Fighting tumor resistance: an integrated multidisciplinary platform for an innovative technological approach to oncotherapies




Valorisation and transfer of the research results to the industry play a fundamental role in the economic development of the country and are considered important drivers for the transition from a manufacturing to the so-called knowledge-based economy. Howerver, research and innovation, especially when the available financial resources are limited, become most effective and efficient only when they are done by an interconnected network of collaborators.


For this reason the present project aims to create a new way of collaboration between the research and innovation world, with a view to Open Innovation and knowledge sharing, by organizing together various regional market players operating in the field of oncology with the aim of promoting an innovative process of better quality for the health system.

To achieve this goal, this project aims to create a regional experimentation hub for early tumor detection, characterization of the resistance profile and creation of alternative therapies for patients who do not respond to conventional treatments.

There will be two technological directions identified by this research project:

  1. Development of innovative personalized therapeutic approaches for the prophylaxis and/or treatment of oncological diseases;
  2. Development of non-invasive approaches for the early diagnosis of tumors, through sensors and biosensors.
